Shai is 5 months old

My baby boy is now 5 mths old and the time has just flown by! I am scared that in the blink of my eyes he’s gonna be a yr old already!

He’s a wonderful baby. Very easy and laid back.

He’s awake more and more. Altho he still naps quite often. He stays awake anywhere b/w 1-2.5 hrs b/w naps. He occasionally gives me a long 2-3 hr nap during the day but typically sleeps for 45 mins at a time.  So he’s doing 4-5 naps a day still.  I wish we were on a regular 3 nap a day schedule but we’re just not there yet. The bad news is that he is no longer sleeping thru the nite. He wakes every 3-4 hrs to nurse and it’s exhausting!! I’m not a fan of waking 2-3 times a nite when we were only waking once a nite just 3 wks ago!! I’m hoping it’s a developmental thing and that he’ll go back to sleeping thru the nite again soon.  I’ve considered not nursing him at nite and even held out one time, but he just cries and it’s a good 1 hr effort to get him to fall back asleep.  When I nurse it’s no more than 20 mins before my head is back on my pillow, which I certainly prefer!

He’s nursing well, approximately every 3 hrs unless he’s super fussy and cries for boob. He prefers to nurse to sleep but I try to avoid that.  Altho I’ve gotten lax about it since I enjoy my time with him. He nurses for 10-15 mins on one side. Any longer and he’s def crashing out!!

He’s getting stronger. He pulls his legs up and over all the time. He still loves to suck on his hand and fingers. He’s sitting in his bumbo but not for very long. He’s doing raspberries and giggling more. Smiling is getting a little easier but still takes some effort. He is happy if u give him a receiving blanket that he can hold and suck on. His toys get him super frustrated b/c he can’t keep hold of them for long. He drops them or complains b/c he can’t quite get it in his mouth right. He’s super cute. And yes, he’s still a mama’s boy. Stops crying as soon as I hold him, versus anyone else. Both a blessing and a curse. Even so, I love my little baby boy!!

Oh, and he still has seborrhea. It’s better but still there. We’re bathing every 2 days and lubing him up w/ Cetaphil which makes his skin happiest. He also still has reflux. If I have a little dairy it doesn’t seem to affect it much. If I get a burp out of him after nursing that helps a ton. But if I’m bad and eat too much dairy, then he obviously spits up more.  I need to be better about that!! Overall, he’s doing great.  We had another mild bout of thrush. Probiotics for him and me knocked it out in a wks time. I def don’t want to do meds for that again!!
