Elimination Diet

Posted by: jandprowley on: May 6, 2009

The elimination diet did not work.  I cut out (in addition to nuts and dairy) wheat, eggs, soy, and seafood, but to no avail.  Shai’s skin is just as bad as before.  So it’s certainly not an allergic reaction that’s causing his skin to flare up and break out and dry out.  When we were at the Peds the other day they almost didn’t know what to make of it.  It obviously wasn’t contact dermatitis b/c the splotches are all over his body from head to toe.  It’s some form of seborrheic dermatitis.  I have an appt set up w/ a dermatologist to check him out, but the Ped didn’t think they would really treat it b/c he’s too small for a steroid cream, and that he would most likely outgrow it.  But how long before he outgrows it?! My friend Angela said her daughter had it too as an infant and outgrew it in a cple mths.  I’m hoping the same goes for Shai b/c it’s already been a mth and it pains me to see his skin looking so awful.  We shall see…

Oh, did I mention his cradle cap came back?  It’s pretty awful and I’m having a hard time getting at it b/c now that he’s more aware he doesn’t want me messing w/ his head.  So I’m SLOWLY picking at it.  I imagine it’ll eventually disappear…
