Tackling Eczema

Posted by: jandprowley on: April 26, 2009

So I’ve decided to try altering my diet to see if it will affect Shai’s eczema.  Since it’s hard to use the aquaphor on his face which makes his acne break out, I thought I’d try another alternative.  I did some reading online and found that diet can affect a breast feeding baby’s eczema.  It recommended cutting out – eggs, wheat, dairy, nuts, soy, and seafood.   I’ve already been w/o dairy and nuts for over a mth now for Shai’s reflux.  So what’s a few more things?!!?  It’d be alot harder if I weren’t asian, that’s for sure!  Luckily the asian/laos diet is ideal for this.  Lots of rice, meat, and veggies!  And luckily Gma P’s still here and doing lots of cooking.  Otherwise I would be hurting! Or atleast ordering in some asian food more often!!  I’m gonna give it a cple wks to see if there’s a difference.  If not I’ll get back on eggs and wheat, which I miss most from breakfast.  BUT Shai’s skin is already looking better and it’s only been 4 days.  We’ll see!!

I came across your blog while searching for an eczema cure for my 5-month-old daughter. I am going through the same thing as you at the moment trying the elimination diet to see if that will help with the flare ups. We’re hoping to see an allergist in the next month to see if that will give us some clues too. Well, just thought I would say hello :) Best of luck finding out something that works for your baby!
